ABORIGINAL children in outback NSW are deliberately committing crimes so that they can be sent to jail to escape "constant and brutal domestic violence", according to a serving magistrate who has decried a critical lack of sentencing options for some of the nation's most disadvantaged children.
Roger Clisdell has taken the extraordinary step of publicly highlighting the social catastrophe he sees unfolding daily in his courtroom in response to suggestions that country magistrates were punishing Aboriginal children with harsher sentences than city-based offenders.

These three articles are only a few that can be found on the internet. A quick search on Google can produce many articles about domestic violence. Domestic violence can be found in the media as it is a serious problem that people face on a daily basis.
The first article shows what a child who has experienced domestic violence will encounter after the situation at home has been stopped. There are many different scenarios however this is one that may occur. The young girl has been placed in a home where it seems as though no one cares about her. This would be a stressful situation for her to go through on top of the domestic violence she has seen in her home.
The second article is a great step towards the future. The State Government is making a step towards helping victims of domestic violence. This will help the victims get out of the abusive situation and move on with their lives.
The last article states children would rather go to jail then stay at home. They are going to jail so they can escape domestic violence in their home. This article shows there needs to be help for children to be able to escape this violence without having to take drastic measures.
